Manila will invite new bidding for contentious power plant project

Article Abstract:

The Philippine government has chosen to stage a second round of bidding for the development of a 1,200-megawatt gas-fired power plant in an undetermined location. The announcement is a cause of displeasure for Consolidated Electric Power Asia Ltd. which had originally won in the first auction. However, the awarding of the project was cancelled after it was accused by the National Power Corp. of not revealing information about the turbines it intended to use. The deadline for the new bidding is Apr. 15, 1996.
