Many mummies

Article Abstract:

Egypt has a large number of antiquities and the government faces a major task in managing this heritage and conserving it from threats such as tourists. New discoveries have shed light on the origins of writing. The resources of the Egyptian government are limited, and archaeologists increasingly have to seek funds on their own. Treasure hunters have pilfered many items, and tourists also represent a problem simply through breathing when they visit tombs, which creates dampness that affects paintings and the like.
