Measuring intangible value in business-to-business buyer-seller relationships: An intellectual capital perspective

Article Abstract:

The tangible and intangible aspects that reside in a firm's relationship need to be developed and managed carefully by the marketing managers to effectively develop the value of firm's relationships. The study adds to current knowledge of relationship value by testing a hypothesized model of the intangible part that is manifested in buyer-seller relationship. The intellectual capital literature is on business-to-business situations and on the value of the relationship to the seller, rather than to the buyer.

Managing commitments and flexibility by real options

Article Abstract:

The transaction cost economics largely stresses on the benefits of contractual commitments in relationships safeguarding specific assets against holdup, and reducing behavioral uncertainty. The firms may lose some of their flexibility, which is especially important in dynamic environments where there is rapid technological change. The numerical analyzation of the respective trade-off and derive implications for an optimal choice of contractual commitments is done.
