Michelin unveils plan to reduce jobs amid improved results for its first half

Article Abstract:

Michelin SA introduced a restructuring plan for its operations in Europe. The plan will lead to the downsizing of up to 7,500 jobs. The company posted a 17% improvement in its net profits for the first-half of 1999. Michelin's restructuring plan was made to counter stronger European competition. The company posted 292 million euros in net profits for the first half ending on June 30, 1999.
