Montgomery Ward to close its stores, distribution centers

Montgomery Ward has filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection and is shutting down its stores and distribution facilities. The company was operating 250 stores and 10 distribution centers.

United could face strike action

United Airlines flight attendants could go on strike if the carrier's planned acquisition of US Airways is completed. The Association of Flight Attendants voted to strike without flight-attendant approval.
