Felak (Horni Sucha, Czech Republic), involved in metal surface treatment, installed a modern cataphoresis painting line in 1998. The line utilises PPG Powercron 641, which does not include lead, for the anticorrosive protection of car bodies. Felak bets on immersion technology, which ensures the perfect application of paints and is more universal than spraying. Felak's capacity is over 1 mil sq mt of surface treated sheets per year. Felak is a supplier of components for the car compamies Skoda Auto (Mlada Boleslav, Czech Republic), Volkswagen (Germany) and Audi (Germany). Besides, the firm has consumers in the Netherlands and Poland.

Japanese air conditioning for Czech cars

Showa Aluminium (Kladno, Czech Republic), manufacturer of car air-conditioning condensers, commissioned a new plant in Kladno on 03 May 1999. The investment costs on the plant's construction were 27 mil USD. The construction was started in June 1998. The plant's expected capacity is 60,000 condensers per month during three-shift operation. The company manufactures condensers from Swedish aluminium. The products are intended for the European car companies Volkswagen, Audi, Saab, Mitsubishi, GM Suzuki and Skoda Auto. Showa Aluminium (Japan) has more than a 15% share on the global car air-conditioning market.

Walmark (Trinec, Czech Republic), food products firm, has invested 250 mil Kc in the construction of a new plant. The plant will produce soft drinks under the Relax trade mark. The firm has commissioned a packing line for cartons with a capacity of 0.25-2.65 lt and a packing line for natural fruit juices in cartons with a capacity of 1.5 lt due to the investment. Besides natural fruit juices and saturated soft drinks, Walmark produces vitamin tablets and other food products.
