Morgan Stanley profit falls 24% amid broad slump in its business

Article Abstract:

Morgan Stanley of the United States has reported losses in net income of 24 percent to $928 million, the last quarter from $1.22 billion the previous quarter. Net revenue fell 9.2 percent to $6.04 billion from $6.65 billion a year ago. The losses are explained by the banking giant as pending a settlement with Parmalat S.p.A., also there have been ongoing internal management concerns and market volatility.

John Mack is a primary candidate to replace the ousted Philip Purcell as Chief Executive Officer at Morgan Stanley. Under Mr. Mack the investment house, would be an elite banking boutique for corporations and the wealthy, rather than also selling stocks and credit cards to the masses.
