Moscow restricts West's oil titans

Article Abstract:

Russian authorities have announced foreign-owned companies will not be permited to bid at auctions for licenses to develop several major oil fields because the deposits are "strategic". The Ministry of Natural Resources have said that the oil companies will have to be at least 51 percent Russian-owned.

Oil company cushion: Italian energy firm's natural-gas business protects profit margins from falling crude

The natural gas division of Italian petroleum company Eni S.p.A. is helping to offset the economic impact of the falling price of crude oil on the company. Eni is the only large oil company with a sizable natural gas component.

PTT holders may pay for government caps

PTT, the biggest listed energy firm in Thailand, may be asked to help subsidize the Thai government's plan to impose petroleum industry price caps. Such a move would effect PTT's stockholder value.
