Motor bikes in Europe's major markets

Article Abstract:

The motorcycle sector in the major European markets of France, Italy, the UK, Germany and Spain experienced a decline in volume and value from 1990 to 1994. Global economic sluggishness undermined consumer confidence, and increased youth unemployment, which made it harder for this traditional target market to finance moped and scooter acquisition. Negative perceptions about motorbikes negatively affected the market, although these are being overcome. Market forecasts for the years 1994 to 1999 are presented.
