My choice, my daughter

Article Abstract:

A woman who became a mother as a teenager recalls the way in which she was treated when her daughter was born in 1972 and how people react in 1993 when they find out how old her daughter is. She decided not to have an abortion, and is glad because of how her daughter has enriched her life.

Margaret Lennon's daughter 'was forced to learn' about menstruation when precocious puberty struck her at the age of six and a half. The condition, which took several years to diagnose, was treated with the experimental drug Lupron Depot.
