NATO studies AGS ground station

Article Abstract:

The multinational industry team led by Daimler-Benz Aerospace's Dornier reconnaissance business unit has landed a contract from the US Army to study the NATO Common Ground Station architecture for the proposed Alliance Ground Surveillance (AGS) program. The team, which includes Motorola Space & Systems Technology Group, French Matra S&I and Italian Alenia Difesa, will cooperate on all activities that concern the AGS ground system. The AGS sensor data will be received, processed, analyzed and disseminated through the ground stations, which will also interface with national reconnaissance systems.

New displays for AWACS

Article Abstract:

Raytheon ELCAN Co has been awarded a contract by the US Air Force's Warner Robins Air Logistics Center, worth $10.6 million, to supply 435 Common Large Area Display Set units that will be installed aboard the E-3 AWACS aircraft. The units, which will replace those using cathode-ray tubes, are 21in Digital Ruggedized Displays that were designed based on Texas Instruments Digital Micromirror Device.

GINS improves AWACS accuracy

Article Abstract:

Boeing Co has been awarded a contract worth $2.5 million by the US Air Force Electronic Systems Center to install global positioning inertial navigation system capability into the mission system and flight deck of the French Air Force's fleet of four E-3F Airborne Warning and Control System aircraft. Boeing has also been tasked to upgrade the aircraft's altitude measurement system.
