NETALCO-UNOKCAL BAGS MAROLI PROJECT

Article Abstract:

The Gujarat government has awarded the Maroli Port contract and the liquefied natural gas (LNG) terminal contract in Navsari district of south Gujarat to Netalco-Unokcal India Ltd instead of to Essar-Shell combine. This move comes in the wake of Essar not receiving confirmation from its American partner, Shell, for the setting up of the LNG terminal at Maroli Port. The port will be developed by Netalco-Unokcal on build-operate-transfer (BOT) basis at a cost of over Rs900 crore with an investment of Rs240 crore in the first phase. (gsh)
