IDBI, BAJAJ GO IN FOR BIG US-64 REDEMPTIONS

Article Abstract:

The Industrial Development Bank of India (IDBI) and Bajaj Auto (BA) have decided to redeem their units worth Rs330 crore of the US-64 scheme of the Unit Trust of India (UTI). IDBI and BA plan to redeem units worth Rs200 crore and Rs130 crore respectively. UTI has suffered a depreciation of Rs3,566 crore and a negative balance of Rs1,098.49 crore in its reserves. The redemption totals Rs700 crore in October 1998. (rk)

LIC'S INVESTMENTS IN EQUITIES SHOOT UP TO Rs1,907 CR

Article Abstract:

Investments in equity shares by the Life Insurance Corporation of India (LIC) were Rs1,907 crore in the first 9 months of 1998- 99. Such investments were Rs1,100 crore in the entire 1997-98. Investments in equities forms nearly 11 percent of its total incremental investments of Rs17,585 crore made during the first 9 months of 1998-99. It aims to invest Rs2,000 crore in equities in the entire 1998-99. (um) (kvr)
