Article Abstract:

Mitsubishi Electric and Adtranz have developed together a high-voltage intelligent power module (HV-IPM) for applications of traction technology, motive power engineering and energy supply. The intelligent IGBT module for the capacity range of 4.5 KV / 1000 A is to enable the realisation of a new generation of power converter systems for rolling stock with all advantages of the IGBT technology. The partners have successfully tested the module in 12x locomotives in Switzerland for nine months.
