New Goa airport is a priority

Article Abstract:

The construction of a new airport at Mopa, in the north of the Indian state of Goa, remains high on the newly elected chief minister Manohar Parriker's list of political ambitions. The existing airport at Dabolim, south of the capital Panaji, is run by the Indian Navy and has restricted take off/landing times as well as restrictions on size of jets due to the length of runways. Parriker plans to form a steering committee under his chairmanship before the end of Apr 2001, with the specific task of implementing the project.
