Nissan may cut manufacturing capacity

Article Abstract:

Nissan Motor Co. is studying the possibility of reducing its domestic production capacity by as much as 25% over the next three-year period. The move would come under a restructuring strategy that is being formed by Renault SA. Renault is a 37% owner of Nissan, the second-ranked car maker in Japan. Nissan is considering cutting its capacity from two million cars annually to 1.5 million.

Mazda swings to first-half net profit

Article Abstract:

Mazda Motor Co. posted 13.2 billion yen (120.8 million euros) in net profits for the six-month period ending September 30, 1999. The company posted a 4.4 billion yen loss during the same period in 1998.
