Nortel negotiates to buy Swiss plant from JDS for $3 billion in stock

Nortel to acquire Periphonics Corp. for 415 million euros

Article Abstract:

Nortel Networks Corp. has reached an agreement to acquire Periphonics Corp. in a deal worth approximately $436 million (415.2 million). The transaction will be an all-stock acquisition. Nortel stated that its purchase of Periphonics is part of its strategy of offering networks that will combine voice, data, and the Internet. Periphonics is a manufacturer of software that enables call center users to gain access to a firm's database or customer servicesn through touch tone or voice response phone systems and the Internet.
