Novartis comes to rescue of neurotic dogs

Article Abstract:

The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) gave its approval to Novartis AG's animal-health unit to sell a meat-flavored antidepressant drug for dogs. The drug is designed for dogs that experience "separation anxiety" and is also just one of many other pet behavorial treatments that are being developed by other drug firms. The drug is called Clomicalm when it is in a veterinary-use mode. It is the Anafranil drug, an old antidepressant treatment for humans.
