Transgas (Prague, Czech Republic), natural gas transporter, expects a profit of 8.9 bil Kc for 1999. The firm's proceeds for the transit and sales of natural gas totalled 37 bil Kc in 1999. Transgas sold 9.37 bil cu mt of natural gas to regional distributors and direct consumers in the Czech Republic in 1999, 1% more compared to 1998. The firm's largest consumer was Jihomoravska plynarenska (Czech Republic), which took 23% of Transgas's total gas supplies in 1999. Severomoravska plynarenska (Czech Republic) took 18% of Transgas's total supplies in 1999. Transgas imported 9.342 bil cu mt of gas in 1999, a similar quantity as in 1998. The firm transported 41.5 bil cu mt of gas for foreign consumers in 1999, nearly 2 bil cu mt more compared to 1998.

Eta (Hlinsko v Cechach, Czech Republic), electrical appliance manufacturer, plans to increase its economic result by 80 mil Kc in 2000 compared to a loss of 72.5 mil Kc in 1999. The company's loss exceeded 108 mil Kc in 1998. Eta has to take some steps to see a profit in 2000. The firm wants to decrease the number of its employees by 170 by the end of 2000. It had 2,639 employees at the end of 1999. Besides, the firm will sell its heating body production plant and will focus on vacuum cleaners and thermal appliances.
