OECF-FUNDED SERICULTURE PROJECT TO HELP JOB SITUATION IN MANIPUR

Article Abstract:

Employment in the state of Manipur seems to have been partially solved with the commencement of the Rs490 crore sericulture project which has been funded by the Overseas Economic Co- operation Fund of Japan. The project will cover 2,720 hectares of mulberry and 1500 hectares of Eri in two phases. The first phase of the project will cover 1,020 hectares for mulberry. This project will help the sericulture and silk industry of Manipur. (khr)

OECF THROWS A SPANNER INTO DVC's JV WORKS

Article Abstract:

The Rs4,000 crore, 1,000 mw Maithon power project of Damodar Valley Corporation is facing problems due to non availability of funds. The Overseas Economic Cooperation Fund (OECF) of Japan was expected to provide 85 percent loan assistance for the project. OCEF has ruled out sanctioning any loan, if DVC opts for a joint venture with BSES Ltd. OCEF is also opposed to the export oriented unit status for the project. (gs)

POWERGRID FINALISING $350.M OECF LOAN

Article Abstract:

PowerGrid Corporation of India Ltd (PGCIL) is likely to finalise a $350 million (Rs1,400 crore) soft loan from Overseas Economic Co-operation Fund (OECF) of Japan. The loan is for part funding its Rs3,500 crore Talcher II transmission venture in Orissa. Power will be evacuated from NTPC's Talcher II super thermal station across the southern grid after the new project is completed. (uh)
