O.R. modelling of the deterioration and maintenance of concrete structures

Article Abstract:

The effectiveness of delay time modelling techniques as tools for examining the deterioration of concrete bridge components are evaluated using a mathematical model. Deterioration are subdivided into levels such as defect free, cracking, spalling and failure. Results indicate that deterioration rates can be accurately estimated provided that the required information is acquired in a methodical way.

A stocking policy for spare part provisioning under age based preventive replacement

Article Abstract:

A new policy is proposed for optimizing spare provisioning and age replacement of parts. The policy, called stocking policy for ease of reference, combines the continuous review type inventory policy with the age replacement policy to minimize the total cost of replacement and inventory. Several case problems validate the applicability of this new stocking policy.

A Bayesian method on adaptive preventive maintenance problem

Article Abstract:

A Bayesian theoretical approach is considered to determine an optimal adaptive preventive maintenance policy with minimal repair. By incorporating minimal repair, major repair, planned replacement, unplanned replacement and periodic scheduled maintenance in the model, the mathematical formulas of the expected cost per unit time are obtained.
