OR practice in Greece: status and challenges

Article Abstract:

Operations research (OR) and its practice remains at the developmental stage in Greece due to problems related to the lack of OR recognition and lack of qualified OR practitioners. Although political, social and economic changes have accelerated the pace of OR adoption in the country, OR practice in the private sector is nearly nil and OR utilization in the public sector appears to be decreasing. Nevertheless, the situation remains hopeful since the Hellenic Operational Research Society of Greece is currently expanding its membership and activities.
