Omnicom bundles media holdings

Article Abstract:

Omnicom is slated to consolidate the media departments of its divisions, BBDO, Palmer Jarvis DDB and TBWA Chiat/Day, all based in Canada, under a newly-created OMD Canada division on Jan. 1, 1998. The new group will be based in Toronto, Ontario, and will operate under Omnicom Canada. OMD Canada, which will be a part of Omnicom's Optimum Media Direction Worldwide, will have Ann Boden as president and will handle the media buying activities for most of the agencies' clients. The ad agencies will retain the planning operations and should there be account conflicts, the ad agency will handle media buying.

O&M names Vonk and Kestin as CDs

Article Abstract:

Ogilvy & Mather (O&M) named Nancy Vonk and Janet Kestin as co-creative directors at the agency's Toronto, Canada, office. Vonk and Kestin, who previously chiefs of the creative group, will assume the duties left by Steven Landsberg, who is now part of DDB Needham in New York. The multi-awarded duo were behind such works for Nestle, Bic's Pickles, Dove and Timex Indigo. Before working for O&M in 1991, Kestin left momentarily the world of advertising to write for Owl magazine. Vonk worked for SMW Advertising when she moved from the US to Canada in 1986, then joined O&M in 1987.

Ettenberg leaves Bozell to set up shop

Article Abstract:

Bozell Retail Worldwide CEO and Chairman Elliot Ettenberg has tendered his resignation to open his own ad agency named Consumer Strategies Worldwide. Ettenberg will serve as chairman and CEO of the new company, which runs offices in New York, New York, and Toronto, Canada. Ettenberg will run Conssumer Strategies with partners Dave Gantman, president, and Peter Varvara, executive vice president.
