Article Abstract:

Polish finance minister Andrzej Olechowski resigned from his position in the wake of a budget disagreement with the Sejm, the country's parliament. The Sejm voted an increase in public spending that would make the deficit unacceptably large, causing the International Monetary Fund to rescind an aid package that Olechowski had negotiated.
