Opening Europe's coffers

Article Abstract:

The mutual fund industry is starting to grow in mainland Europe and is attracting fund managers from the US and United Kingdom. Fund managers such as Fidelity are having to compete with domestic banks, and tailor their operations to different national market conditions. The major banks in Germany have brought in fund managers from abroad, but demand from more sophisticated clients may bring greater opportunities for foreign firms who can also enter the market through independent investment advisers and direct sales.
