Oracle beats estimates for net profit as cost-cutting offsets drop in sales

Oracle Corp. posted higher-than-expected net profits for the fourth-quarter ending May 31, 2001. The company posted $3.26 billion in revenues for the period as a result of cost-cutting measures.

Novell names new CEO in shakeup

Novell Inc. of the United States has ousted its top executive over poor stock performance and a less than stellar quarterly report. Chief Executive Officer Jack Messman has been replaced by Ronald Hovespian. Chief Financial Officer Joseph Tibbetts was also asked to resign.
