Article Abstract:

The cosmetics and toiletries market in Hungary reports that distribution is usually through departments stores with 66% in 1996, down from 69.1% in 1995. Department stores are opted for their convenience of location, availability of a wide range of products together with other personal care products and other household product necessities. Meanwhile, outdoor markets, which are mostly private and family-owned, are losing their popularity to more reliable classic distribution establishments. The country could also expect more retail developments in the future.

Beiersdorf's Nivea is one of the world's most popular brand and utilizes a joint distribution agreement in the UK, with Smith & Nephew. L'Oreal, Beiersdorf, Procter & Gamble and Unilever have the most global exposure in the skin care segment. France's L'Oreal is popular because of its presence in most segments of the skin care market. Meanwhile, Boots leads in the UK, with a 21.1% value share in 1996.
