Aro Granite Industries Ltd of Hosur is a 100 percent export oriented unit and produces polished and flamed granite tiles. It has a capacity to produce 120,000 sq metres per annum. It has acquired the latest diamond cutting technology from Pedrini of Italy and has computerised all its mechanical operations. It exports its entire output to the US, Singapore, Canada, Japan and Germany. (khr)

RAILWAYS SET TO INCUR RECORD Rs2,500-CR LOSS THIS FISCAL
Article Abstract:
The Indian Railways is set to close 1998-99 with a record loss of Rs2500 crore. Poor freight loading will contribute Rs1200 crore to the total loss while the railways will have to pay another Rs1300 crore to meet the liabilities of the Fifth Pay Commission. It has been estimated that the railways will not be able to meet revised loading target of 430 million tonnes. (khr)
