SPIC ELECTRONIC POSTS Rs1.03 CR NET

Spic Electronic and System Ltd has achieved a turnaround in 1997- 98 by posting a net profit of Rs1.03 crore as against a net loss of Rs2.92 crore incurred in 1996-97. Its net sales were Rs49.13 crore (Rs27.27 crore). Gross profit was Rs6.39 crore (Rs2.33 crore). Interest charges were Rs3.19 crore (Rs3.66 crore) and depreciation provision was Rs2.16 crore (Rs1.60 crore). The company has converted its integrated circuits manufacturing facility into an export unit under the electronic hardware technology park scheme. (gs)

The company has been exporting its granite products to European and Scandinavian countries since its inception in 1992. Its export turnover grew from Rs7 million in 1992 to Rs43 million in 1997.
