Article Abstract:

Pakistan has managed to have a good economy since gaining its independence from Great Britain on Aug 15, 1947 despite having a poor political record. Pakistan was created as a refuge for Muslims, and led initially by Indian refugees, but the country is now divided by its ethnic groups and violence.

Political tension was heightened when the central government of Pakistan issued a resolution extending its authority over the province of Punjab. Critics see the resolution as a threat to provincial authority, and its legality is questionable.
