Political and worker protests peter out in Peru

Article Abstract:

The privatisation of Petroperu is set to be launched in March 1996, beginning with the auction of the Petrolube lubricants plant. Surveys have revealed that 67% of Peruvians are opposed to the sell-off, despite Peruvians being more in favour of privatisation generally, than any other major Latin American country. The privatisation of Petroperu is expected to raise $2 billion investment capital.

Debate grows over privatization of Statoil

Article Abstract:

There is a continuing debate in the Norwegian government about the privatization of Statoil. There will probably not be any action in this direction before mid-2000 because of all the necessary preparations. Outgoing Statoil board members believe that a change is necessary and current Statoil Board Chmn Ole Lund wants the sector restructured.
