Political change beckons cautious rethink on South Africa

Article Abstract:

Multinational firms should respond to the political changes in South Africa by reevaluating their strategic plans. Events such as the release of Nelson Mandela and the gradual elimination of apartheid legislation will affect the operations of multinational firms. Some multinational firms may wish to avoid investing in South Africa, but other firms, especially those with extensive African operations, many choose to make either Johannesburg or Cape Town the headquarters of their African operations.

Multinational management strategies

Article Abstract:

Multinational companies should establish a formal strategy control process. A well-managed information technology strategy can help multinational companies survive in the 1990s. An effective strategy involves other factors besides the automation of routine functions. Such factors as technical expertise, an understanding of business, perseverance, and interpersonal skills are also necessary. The development of a global communications network is essential in the management of R&D strategies.
