Port Authority agrees record budget

Article Abstract:

A US$4.6 billion budget for 2001 has been approved by the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey Board of Commissioners. The approval represents the start of an extensive five-year, US$9.5 billion capital investment program in airports, as well as bridges and tunnels, the PATH system and other facilities throughout the New York-New Jersey region. The budget includes a record US$2.05 billion first installment of capital spending which partly provides for the transformation of JF Kennedy, Newark and LaGuardia airports into modern, customer-friendly airports.
