For the year, the company posted 151.3 million pound sterling ($244.5 million) over the 1997 year. Cookson is a electronics, ceramics, and engineering group based in the UK. The company's pretax profit figures are stated before 81.5 million pound sterling in exceptional costs.

Cookson's profit declines 19%, but meets views

Cookson Group PLC posted a decline of 19% in its pretax profits for the first-half of 1999. The company's profits were what analysts had expected. Cookson posted 64.5 million pound sterling (96.7 million euros) in profits in the period. Analysts predicted approximately 65 million pound sterling for the industrial materials company. Cookson's figures were at the high end of what analysts had forecasted.

Cookson to issue new debt, withhold investor dividend
