Process reengineering and the dynamic balance of the organisation

Article Abstract:

The concept of business process redesign is well-known in most modern companies, but its benefits have sometimes been intangible. Companies have long applied industrial engineering ideas to production processes, but applying similar concepts to administrative processes is a new idea that has evolved with the development of information technology and modern information systems. The main barrier to business process reengineering is lack of resources and a piecemeal approach is often adopted. Flexibility, motivation and efficiency are vital elements of successful business reengineering and organisational balance.

Economic value added: a primer for European managers

Article Abstract:

Economic value added (EVA) is often used to rate the performance of managers, and calculate their bonuses. EVA is a useful method of coping with the changes in corporate finance since the deregulation of capital markets, and it is likely to be used increasingly in the future. However, applying EVA is complicated because it involves the analysis of a company's profits after the cost of equity capital and its debts have been discounted. Rhone-Poulenc is used to show how complex EVA is in practice.
