Profile, Bernard Taylor, Robert Fleming

Article Abstract:

Bernard Taylor had eight successful years at Smiths Industries, including M&A experience, corporate planning and line management. He later joined Barings and helped to set up the M&A group. He became uneasy about the deficiencies structure of the organization and left in December 1993. He joined Robert Fleming in 1994, along with several other ex-Barings colleagues. Taylor is keen to build on the core sector teams, such as the oil and gas team, and he has great faith in 'relationship banking'.

Rich rewards for those in the line of hire

Article Abstract:

Several investment banks have recently invested heavily to recruit top corporate financiers, and are offering very high salaries to the most highly sought after individuals. However, it is becoming difficult to recruit junior corporate finance staff, as many potential employees are deterred by the strong commitment which the job requires. Employers are responding by offering packages which are more specifically targeted to an individual's requirements.
