Rick Sapp is the American head of European M&A (mergers and acquisitions) at investment bank Goldman Sachs and has been in the UK for 10 years. Smith leaves RBS for Swiss rival

Article Abstract:

UBS is in a strong position to finance a wide range of transactions, as it has a very large balance sheet and a significant European presence, according to Nigel Smith. He has recently left his position in Royal Bank of Scotland's acquisition finance unit to become a senior member of the European leveraged finance group at UBS. He believes that the leveraged finance group can benefit from working closely with other departments within UBS, and welcomes the fact that UBS has a single department for mezzanine and senior debt.

Heino Teschmacher, UBS

Article Abstract:

There is a strong team culture within the corporate finance operations of UBS, according to Heino Teschmacher, head of European mergers and acquisitions. The bank refuses to consider approaches from potential employees seeking large salaries, and operates a single profit centre and a single business committee. It adopts a cautious approach, and has refused to give in to pressure to build strength in particular sectors. It gives considerable attention to being a fully integrated organisation.
