The research and development arena in the Asian countries was once thought to be lagging behind its western counterparts; this impression is overwhelmed by the innovation of new products with advanced technologies by the finalists in the Asian innovation awards. The economic development and crisis management are thought to be the driving forces behind this change.

The South Korean government had banned Japanese music and musicians, as their cruel rule between 1910 and 1945 remains fresh in the minds of the older generation of Korean. However, the youngsters have no qualms about accepting Japanese music and rock the night and the past away with their enthusiasm.

Asian digital music services are plagued with music piracy problems. The losses being incurred on account of illegal downloading of music by online music service providers like Carosa and Sarronwala are discussed.
