Quota auctions stay - for now

The Russian Ministry of Economic Development and Trade confirmed that the fish quota auctions would continue despite protests from the fishermen. The quota system has been brought in to tackle the overcapacity in the fishing that exceeds the resources.

Eight-month study starts to provide: ten-year strategy for Indonesia

Indonesia has started a study to develop a medium-term plan for its fishing industry. The study will take about 8 months for completion and is being financed by the Asian Development Bank. Indonesia is the world's 10th largest fish exporter.

Hake catching upturn - but TAC will fall

Hake catching in South Africa is northbound. However, the fishing industry is expecting a massive cut in hake TAC for sustainability. Other issues like long-term fishing rights and fuel price are also discussed.
