RBI REVISES GDP GROWTH PROJECTIONS DOWNWARDS

Article Abstract:

The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has made a downward revision of its projection of 6 percent economic growth made in its mid- term economic review. The projection had been made 2 months ago. The Reserve Bank of India has noted that the country has recorded a lower industrial growth of 3.6 percent till the end of October 1998. This is against the industrial growth of 6.2 percent recorded in 1997. The downward revision has been made due to the lesser growth in the industry. The Reserve Bank of India has not indicated the revised GDP growth rate. (uh/kvr)

KUTUB'S RAICHUR PROJECT PLANS SHELVED

Article Abstract:

Kutub Power Company has dropped its plan to set up a 420 mw coal based power plant at Raichur. The company is yet to file a detailed project report (DPR) despite repeated requests from the Government of Karnataka. Since it has not submitted the DPR, the power purchase agreement with Karnataka Electricity Board is yet to be signed. The project is yet to get clearance from the government. It may not get clearance from water commission also, as the 840 mw Raichur Thermal Power Station has been commissioned at Raichur. (um)(vr)
