REVVING UP FOR A SMOOTH RIDE: DEMAND FACTORS

Article Abstract:

Sales of two-wheelers in India is mainly driven by increased levels of per capita income of households. The share of the rural segment in the purchase of scooters is 25-30 percent and 51-55 percent in the purchase of motorcycles. The impact of higher incomes is more in scooter and motorcycle segments than in the moped segment. The penetration of finance companies which give credit and installment schemes has also increased sales of two- wheelers. (khr)
