The noising method: a generalization of some metaheuristics

Article Abstract:

A review of the principles and applications of the noising method is presented and the links between the noising method, the simulated annealing method and the threshold accepting algorithm are investigated.

Random generation of tournaments and asymmetric graphs with given-out degrees

Article Abstract:

The random generation of asymmetric graphs and complete asymmetric graphs, otherwise known as tournaments, with given out-degrees in paired- comparison surveys is considered. Specifically, a polynomial algorithm for deriving a random tournament with certain out-degrees is introduced. In light of the nonzero probability of computing such tournaments, a condition for turning a sequence of integers into the out-degrees of an asymmetric graph is derived and used to modify the algorithm.
