Re CLOSES AT 42.33

Article Abstract:

The rupee opened at 42.32/34 against the dollar, went to a low of 42.36 and closed at 42.333/34 at the foreign exchange market on October 13, 1998. Dealers expect the rupee to remain range-bound throughout the week as they do not envisage any market moving factors in the next few days. The monetary policy review scheduled for October 30, 1998 is not expected to have any impact on the foreign exchange markets. (khr)

RUPEE CLOSES AT 42.34

Article Abstract:

The rupee opened at 42.41/43 against the dollar and closed at 42.34/36 at the interbank foreign exchange market on October 7, 1998. Sales of export dollars and unwinding of long dollar positions by banks helped the rupee to gain against the dollar. The rupee had closed at 42.39/41 against the dollar on October 6, 1998. (khr)

RUPEE FIRMS UP AGAINST $

Article Abstract:

In the foreign exchange market at Mumbai, the rupee closed at 42.30/31 against dollar on October 14, 1998. Rupee closed at 42.33/34 on October 13, 1998. Exporters brought in dollars and there was a good supply. Corporate houses sold dollars as holidays follow this weekend. (rk)
