Interactive multimedia: perceptions of multimedia seem to have overtaken the reality

Article Abstract:

Multimedia services are optimistic about their future in Asia thanks to a growing middle class and regional interest in developing the infrastructure needed to support such systems. Backers of multimedia applications expect the strongest areas to be financial services, education, entertainment, and home shopping. However, many are intended to allow people to do at home activities they prefer to leave for, such as shopping and playing video games, as an escape. Some govts also consider data networks a political threat.
