The recession has cause housing prices to drop in wealthy Los Angeles, CA communities like Beverly Hills and Bel Air. Office vacancies are up as is unoccupied retail space. Los Angeles is also suffering from the downturn in the entertainment industry. Economic recovery is expected to occur by 1993.

The recession has barely affected the wealthy inhabitants of Greenwich and Westport, CT. They choose their entertainments and nannies a bit more carefully, but not much else has changed. But the unemployment rate has climbed from 1.7% to 4.4% and the demand for social services is greater.
