Reflecting on construction

Article Abstract:

Research into metal roofing and cladding undertaken by the British Board of Agrement has led to the publication of 'Coated Metal Roofing and Cladding.' This is mainly aimed at designers and contractors involved with many schemes using coated-metal roofing and cladding. There is a great deal of useful information in Bill Allen's book 'Envelope Design for Buildings' on building construction. Angus J. MacDonald's book 'Structural Design for Architecture' is an excellent introduction for students.

From PC to the humble baked bean (bar codes) (Steel in Construction)

Article Abstract:

Bar codes are a frequently used identification medium, used in supermarkets, security systems, motor manufacture, luggage handling, and medical supplies. Their use within the steelwork construction industry is being looked at, and the Steelwork Fabrication 2000 project has produced a report on bar coding. It considered different applications and suggested that bar coding could provide cost-effective support for steelwork contractors.
