Religion is a positive in Indonesia vote

Article Abstract:

Religion would play a crucial role in the Jun 1999 parliamentary elections in Indonesia, given the religious-orientation of citizens on political and economic issues. It is for this factor that the elections would be more of a battle between secular groups rather than a fight between political parties. Although India's political landscape is anchored on religious grounds, foreign investors must not be apprehensive of entering local markets since majority of voters are interested in electing responsive and highly-skilled leaders.
