Renault, Matra team up to produce a new car

Article Abstract:

Renault SA and Matra, a unit of Lagardere SCA, have unveiled new plans to jointly produce a new, high-end motor vehicle. The new passenger car, which the firms said will neither be a minivan nor a sedan, station wagon or a coupe, is expected to be produced at Matra's Romorantin, France, plant by 2000. The new joint venture, which follows rumors of a collapse of the 1984 joint venture for Matra's production of the Espace minivan for Renault, is expected to renew ties between the two car manufacturers.
