Article Abstract:

Spanish telecoms operator Retevision has announced that it will invest over Pta 50,000mn in terrestrial digital TV service infrastructure in a first phase. The company is about to present its new data network on Internet Protocol (IP), called Retenet. Retevision is also planning to offer Internet access free of charge to clients which access the Retevision network directly. The company has acquired Internet access providers in Spain, Redes TB and Servicom. The offer will begin in September, 1998, and will be limited mainly to those areas in Spain where Retevision has telephone access.

Retevision presenta su plataforma de servicios de Internet 'Iddeo'

Article Abstract:

Spanish telecoms operator Retevision has presented its Internet services platform 'Iddeo' which is the result of having merged the three Internet providers owned by Retevision: Servicom, Cinet and Redes Tb. The service will offer personal web pages, e-mail, group data bases, chats, etc. Three different services will be offered clients under the Iddeo programme: Acceso Ocio, for night-time Internet navigators; Acceso Profesional for companies and professionals wanting more than one e-mail address; and Acceso Basico, which will have an unlimited number of access hours.

Article Abstract:

Spanish telecoms operator Retevision posted a net profit in 1997 of Pta 2,846mn, down by Pta 1,700mn compared to 1996. It was the first year for Retevision as a private company, although the State still has a 30% stake in the company. In 1997 Retevision invested a total Pta 56,026mn, compared to investments of Pta 10,716mn in 1996. In its first two months of operation in 1998 the company has subscribed a total 350,000 clients.
