Return of the dragon: fifteen years after his first attempt, Asia's most popular action hero finally kicks his way to the top of the U.S. box-office charts

Article Abstract:

Jackie Chan's new movie 'Rumble in the Bronx' seized the top spot in its first weekend of release in the US, creating a surge of interest in new and past movies by the martial-arts star and his director, Stanley Tong. Chan tried before to break into the US market but his early films flopped; now, he says his athletic martial-arts style without heavy use of special effects offers a stark contrast to recent Hollywood action releases. Also, his warm persona stands out compared to the icy superheros portrayed by other stars.
